In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by section 4(2) of the Education Act 1994(1), the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Education (Funding for Teacher Training) Designation (No. 3) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 8th October 1997.
2. The following are hereby designated as institutions eligible for funding under Part 1 of the Education Act 1994:-
(a)Bournemouth Borough Council
(b)Cambridgeshire County Council
(c)Dudley Metropolitan District Council
(d)Enfield London Borough Council
(e)Essex County Council
(f)Kent County Council
(g)Northamptonshire County Council
(h)Nottinghamshire County Council
(i)Shropshire County Council
(j)Somerset County Council
(k)Suffolk County Council
(l)City of Sunderland Council
(m)Wiltshire County Council
(n)Wolverhampton Metropolitan Borough Council

This Order designates Bournemouth, Cambridgeshire, Dudley, Enfield, Essex, Kent, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, Somerset, Suffolk, Sunderland, Wiltshire and Wolverhampton Councils ("the Institutions") as institutions eligible for funding under Part 1 of the Education Act 1994.
As a result of this Order, the Teacher Training Agency may make grants, loans or other payments in respect of expenditure incurred or to be incurred by the Institutions for the purposes of the provision of teacher training and the provision of facilities, and the carrying on of other activities which the Institutions consider it necessary or desirable to provide or carry on for the purpose of or in connection with the provision of teacher training.
