The Police Cadets (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1997

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 27 of the Police (Scotland) Act 1967(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after taking into consideration any recommendations made by the Police Negotiating Board for the United Kingdom and supplying the said Board with a draft of the Regulations in accordance with section 62(1) of the Police Act 1996(2) hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Police Cadets (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 17th December 1997 but shall have effect-�

(a)for the purposes of regulation 2, as from 1st September 1995;

(b)for the purposes of regulation 3, as from 1st September 1996; and

(c)for the purposes of regulation 4, as from 1st September 1997.

(2) In these Regulations, "the principal Regulations" means the Police Cadets (Scotland) Regulations 1968(3).

Amendment of the principal Regulations

2. For the Table in Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations (which contains scales of pay) there is substituted the following Table:-�

3.-(1) Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations (pay), as amended by regulation 2 above, shall be further amended as follows.

(2) For the Table in Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations (as substituted by regulation 2 above), there is substituted the following Table:-�

18 years or over£5,805".

4.-(1) Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations (pay), as amended by regulations 2 and 3 above, shall be further amended as follows.

(2) For the Table in Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations (as substituted by regulation 3 above), there is substituted the following Table:-�

5. In Schedule 2 to the principal Regulations (which relates to charges for board and lodging), for the sum "£642" there shall be substituted the sum "£708".

Revocation

6. The Police Cadets (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1995(4) are hereby revoked.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations further amend the Police Cadets (Scotland) Regulations 1968. Regulations 2, 3 and 4 increase the pay of police cadets with retrospective effect from 1st September 1995, 1st September 1996 and 1st September 1997 respectively. Retrospectivity is authorised by section 27(2) of the Police (Scotland) Act 1967.

Regulation 5 increases the charges payable by cadets for board and lodging provided by police authorities from £642 per annum to £708 per annum with effect from 17th December 1997.

Regulation 6 revokes the Police Cadets (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1995.
