The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 4(5) of Schedule 5 to the Air Navigation (No. 2) Order 1995(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Air Navigation (General) (Second Amendment) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 14th May 1999.
2. The Air Navigation (General) Regulations 1993(2) shall be further amended by inserting after regulation 18 the following:
18A. For the purposes of paragraph 4(5) of Schedule 5 to the Air Navigation (No. 2) Order 1995, the prescribed requirements for an airborne collision avoidance system shall be the requirements for ACAS II equipment set out in Volume 4 Chapter 4 of Annex 10 (first edition) to the Chicago Convention.".

These Regulations further amend the Air Navigation (General) Regulations 1993 by prescribing requirements which must be met by an airborne collision avoidance system carried in accordance with the Air Navigation (No. 2) Order 1995.
