The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 14(2) of the Protection of Children Act 1999(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Protection of Children Act 1999 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2000.
2. The day appointed for the coming into force of section 3(1) and (2) of the Protection of Children Act 1999 is 5th June 2000.

(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order is the first commencement order made under the Protection of Children Act 1999. It brings into force on 5th June 2000 section 3(1) and (2) of the Act, which makes provision relating to the inclusion of individuals in the list kept by the Secretary of State for the purposes of section 1 of the Act on transfer from the Consultancy Service Index.
