The Thurrock Development Corporation (Area and Constitution) Order 2003

  Made 23rd June 2003 
  Laid before Parliament 2nd July 2003 
  Coming into force 29th October 2003 

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 134(1) and 135 of, and paragraph 1 of Schedule 26 to, the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order - 

Citation and commencement
     1. This Order may be cited as the Thurrock Development Corporation (Area and Constitution) Order 2003, and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.

Designation of urban development area
    
2.  - (1) The area shown on the map bounded externally by a black line and edged internally with a stippled band is hereby designated as an urban development area.

    (2) In paragraph (1), "the map" means the map entitled "Map referred to in the Thurrock Development Corporation (Area and Constitution) Order 2003", of which prints, signed by a Director in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, are deposited and available for inspection at the offices of the First Secretary of State and the offices of Thurrock Borough Council.

3.  - (1) For the purposes of regenerating the area designated by article 2(1) there is hereby established an urban development corporation named "Thurrock Development Corporation".

    (2) The corporation established by paragraph (1) shall consist of eleven members in addition to the chairman and deputy chairman.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order designates the borough of Thurrock as an urban development area, and establishes an urban development corporation to regenerate the area. The area is shown hatched black on the map forming part of this note.

The urban development corporation is to be called "Thurrock Development Corporation", and will have eleven members in addition to the chairman and deputy chairman.

Prints of the map referred to in article 2 of this Order are available for inspection at all reasonable hours in the Library of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, Ashdown House, 123 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6DE or at Planning Reception, Thurrock Borough Council, 2nd Floor, Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, Thurrock, Essex RM17 6SL.
