Modern Slavery

The Modern Slavery Act 2015 (Commencement No. 3 and Transitional Provision) Regulations 2015

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 61(1) and (8) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015(1), makes the following Regulations.

Citation and interpretation

1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (Commencement No. 3 and Transitional Provision) Regulations 2015.

(2) In these Regulations "the 2015 Act" means the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Commencement of section 54 of the 2015 Act

2.  Section 54 of the 2015 Act (transparency in supply chains etc) comes into force on 29th October 2015.

Transitional provision

3.  The commencement of section 54 of the 2015 Act (transparency in supply chains etc.) does not have effect in respect of a financial year ending before 31st March 2016.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations are the third commencement regulations made under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (c. 30) ("the 2015 Act").

Regulation 2 brings into force the provision of the 2015 Act relating to transparency in supply chains.

Regulation 3 contains transitional provision so that a commercial organisation with a financial year that ends before 31st March 2016 does not have to make a slavery and human trafficking statement in respect of that financial year.
