The European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 (Commencement No. 3) Regulations 2019

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 25(4) of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018(1), makes the following Regulations:

Citation

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 (Commencement No. 3) Regulations 2019.

Appointed day

2.  The day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 is the day after the day on which these Regulations are made-

(a)paragraph 1 of Schedule 5 (publication of retained direct EU legislation etc.); and

(b)section 15(1) (publication) to the extent that it is not already in force.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of these Regulations)

These Regulations are the third set of commencement regulations made under the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 (c. 16). Regulation 2 brings paragraph 1 of Schedule 5 to that Act into force on the day after the day on which these Regulations are made. That paragraph confers duties and powers on the Queen's Printer to publish relevant instruments including retained direct EU legislation.

"Exit day" means 31st October 2019 at 11 p.m. in accordance with section 20(1) of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 (c. 16). The definition of "exit day" was amended by S.I. 2019/718 and 2019/859.
