15.(1) In any case of urgent necessity an application for admission (in this Act referred to as "an emergency application") may be made by [a social worker] or any relative of a patient in accordance with sub-sections (2) and (3). (2) An emergency application shall be founded on a recommendation for admission in the prescribed form which shall include (in addition to the matters referred to in section twelve) a statement that by reason of the mental disorder from which the patient is suffering it is of urgent necessity for him to be admitted to hospital in pursuance of an application under section twelve, but that compliance with all the provisions of this Part relating to such an application would involve undesirable delay. (3) An emergency application shall cease to have effect on the expiration of a period of seven days beginning with the day on which the patient is admitted to hospital unless the [Health and Social Services Board administering] the hospital where the patient is detained receive the medical report mentioned in section nineteen within that period.
