The School Teachers (Consequential Amendments) (Wales) Regulations 2004

  Made 6 July 2004 
  Coming into force 1 September 2004 

In exercise of the powers conferred upon it by section 214 of the Education Act 2002[1], the National Assembly for Wales makes the following Regulations:

Name, commencement and application
     1.  - (1) These Regulations are called the School Teachers (Consequential Amendments) (Wales) Regulations 2004 and come into force on 1 September 2004.

    (2) These Regulations apply in relation to Wales.

Amendment of Further Education Teachers' Qualifications (Wales) Regulations 2002
    
2.  - (1) The Further Education Teachers' Qualifications (Wales) Regulations 2002[2] are amended as follows.

    (2) In regulation 2 omit the definition of "1999 Regulations qualification", and insert the following definition at the appropriate place  - 

    (3) In regulation 3 substitute for sub-paragraph (a) in each of paragraphs (2), (3) and (4) the following sub-paragraph  - 

Amendment of the General Teaching Council for Wales (Fees) Regulations 2002
     3.  - (1) The General Teaching Council for Wales (Fees) Regulations 2002[4] are amended as follows.

    (2) In regulation 3 substitute the words "to be registered by virtue of regulations made under section 134(1) of the Education Act 2002[5]" for the words "as a consequence" to the end.

    (3) In regulation 4(4) substitute for paragraph (b) the following  - 

Amendment of the Education (Induction Arrangements for School Teachers) (Wales) Regulations 2003
     4.  - (1) The Education (Induction Arrangements for School Teachers) (Wales) Regulations 2003[6] are amended as follows.

    (2) In regulation 2(1)  - 

    (3) In regulation 6(2)(a)(i), insert after the words "registered teacher" the words "or on an employment-based teacher training scheme".

    (4) In the Welsh language version of regulation 8 (1) and (2), substitute the words "athro neu athrawes gymwysedig" for the words "athro neu athrawes gymwys".

    (5) In Schedule 1  -

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations amend the Further Education Teachers' Qualifications (Wales) Regulations 2002, the General Teaching Council for Wales (Fees) Regulations 2002 and the Education (Induction Arrangements for School Teachers) (Wales) Regulations 2003. The amendments take account of the changes made by sections 132, 133 and 134 of the Education Act 2002 to teachers' qualifications, to the work that may be carried out in schools by teachers and others and to the requirement to register with the General Teaching Council for Wales.
